JOB INTERVIEWING: ·If and when you find yourself in the job market you might want to ask yourself the following questions in preparing you for a job interview:
- How is my physical appearance? - How confident am I? - Can I communicate in the interview in a clear, brief, and interesting manner? - What is my return in investment to the employer if I am hired? - What are specific examples of my achievements at work? - What is my knowledge of my industry? - Do I know the employer's company? ·Can I communicate the following with solid and clear examples of my:
- My maturity and readiness to take on new responsibilities? - My enthusiasm to learn and grow on the job? - My positive attitude toward management and other team members? - My ability to do more than the basic job requires? - My depth and knowledge of the industry I am in? ·Do s and Don't s of what not to do in the interview: - Be aware of your physical appearance, "do not slouch" - Do not distract your interviewer by being overly animated, tapping your fingers, fiddling with your clothes, pen - Make clear and direct eye contact - Speak slowly make sure you do not mumble or speak to softly. - Do not be negative; which means do not criticize your former employees, bosses, or coworkers - Do not be overly argumentative or aggressive or arrogant - Never apologize for any shortcomings ·Bring 3-5 copies of resume to interview (You may meet with more than one person in the interview) ·Arrive 10-15 minutes early for the interview: - There may be an application to fill out - It never hurts to be early - Fill out the application neatly and completely - Never put ?See Resume? on the application · First impressions are crucial: - Communication skills are key - The first 10-15 seconds of the interview are crucial - Direct eye Contact is extremely important - Firm handshake and personal greeting - Break the ice quickly and light and personal matter - Present yourself technically, show your personal side - Display a positive energy, how you are a team player, your ambition - Do not go to the extremes ·Let the employer lead the interview: - Ask the interviewer to describe the position - Have 6-10 written questions ready to ask the interviewer (questions related to the position, company, team environment, team, interviewer role). - Listen carefully - Taking notes can be distracting and not recommended while the interviewer is speaking ·Answering questions: - Be direct and concise - Keep answers short and to the point - Stay focused - Remain positive attitude is everything - Refrain from any negative comments about the past or present - Sell yourself and tell employer what you can do for them - Know your own professional background in terms of dates, salary, job responsibilities - Be able talk about your strengths and have real examples ready to go - Be able to talk about your weakness in the same manner ·Interview Hurdles and how do handle: - What are your salary requirements?
